This photograph was taken in one of the small mountain towns north of Santa Fe, near Chimayo. There are 3 things about the image that intrigued me: 1. The absolute, bare simplicity of the door and the light and the cross; 2. The fact that those three objects aren’t perfectly centered; 3. The sense of community and comfort that must come from having firewood at the doorstep. I imagine simplicity, community, and comfort to be essential parts of the life there.
