My family and I made a trip to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and while my wife and daughter played in sandy Medano Creek, my son and I ventured into the sand. The magnificent drama of the landscape was fed that day by rolling clouds that shifted and danced into new shapes. Climbing every dune was a new adventure for us, with a new view from the top of each one. Here, my 3-year-old son metaphorically steps out into the great and unknown sandscape of the dunes and -- of course -- of life itself.
