My daughter, Madeline, turned 5 on the day our family visited the Statue of Liberty. She and I walked around the pedestal, I taking the grandeur of the monument and she taking in the wonders of the whole world around her (as she does so well). What I like about the image is the way it portrays the stately and constant nature of the statue (which is still recognizable without seeing the face), contrasted with the fluid and never-slow-down vibrancy of youth -- each coexisting quite happily.
